Just breathe

We are all well aware of the difference between a good and a bad habit. Some things breaks us down and some things builds us up.
 
I suppose, when we struggle to cope with the challenges in our lives - or rather, when we lack a room to breathe in in between the challenges - we easily get stuck in 'bad' habits.
 
Drinking, smoking, not eating, overeating, not exercising or sleeping, over exercising or sleeping or drugs. I suppose they're all coping mechanisms. We are searching for something external to lift us up because we feel weighted down.
 
If we're destructive and are around people with the same 'bad' coping mechanism, we feel alright. Belonging even. But once we step out of that bubble of shared escape and face the real world, we feel ashamed.
 
Maybe because it's so deeply imprinted in us humans to want to be good and improve, that if we feel bad, we feel ashamed even though we know shame would only worsen our situation. 
 
But in the end you have to ask yourself about wellbeing. Ofcourse, it doesn't exists in over induldgence. However, it does exist in a relaxed attitude and approach to life.
 
You'll forget how to live and and laugh if you're being to harsh on yourself. Suffocate. 
 
So maybe allow yourself to cope with life in your own way and believe that whatever struggles you're going through, there will be a time when you will be out on the other side of it and it will be over.
 
In the end, there aren't any true answers to life. Only gut feelings that need to be listened to and followed. Be kind to yourself, above all other things - be kind.
